From David:

“This is some SERIOUS milk! Besides what it doens’t have, being lactose and not a lot of fat (only 3.5 g per 11 ounce serving), AHM is loaded with:

* Calcium - a whopping 60% of your daily value (DV)!
* Vitamin D - 25% of the DV
* Protein - 26 grams!

If you purchase it online, it costs $25.00 for a case of 12 which breaks down to $2.08 per unit. Add on shipping and tax and you may be looking at around $3.00 a unit. In comparison, AHM is less expensive than its nearest competitor Muscle Milk.

Sharon and I LOVED it! We were pleasantly surprised that it didn’t have that overly-sweet-chaulky-protein taste. Instead it had a nice clean taste like milk that had some honey added to it. In essence, that is what AHM is, except with more nutrition bang. And of course, a Shelvic Exam wouldn’t be the same unless the three Grotto girls weighed in with their ranking. They were unanimous on this one!”

Meet Parvaneh Moayedi of Austin, TX. This image of her was taken at the Boston Marathon, but she wrote us a while back about an AMAZING weekend of multiple races:

“I ran two races last weekend! Saturday I ran Huntsville 50K and Sunday Double Decker Marathon in Austin. I finished both races with decent timing! The 50K was first time running on Huntsville trails. My time was 5:16, which is not a PR, but given the conditions (cold, difficulty of course and not enough aid stations) it was good for 6th place female out of 59! The next day for double Decker marathon, it rained all day my finish time was 4:13 which was 2nd overall woman out of two! Yes most people did the first half and some didn’t show up or didn’t finish! This was a very hilly course! This is from someone who is used to running hills! I had Athletes milk after finishing both races and it was great!”

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Parvaneh! See you at the finish line!

Sometimes we get excited and we just train TOO hard. Or we have a race coming up and we try to cram in EXTRA miles that our bodies aren’t ready for. We may simply be unaware of how much recovery our systems need and our training is too INTENSE.

Eventually these scenarios catch up to us and they start to seriously affect our everyday lives. If you find yourself with a raging headache, and yelling at your friends for no reason, you may be overtraining. Here is a list of some of the more common overtraining symptoms (remember, training is half the battle, the other half is recovery):

headaches

loss of appetite

depression

elevated morning pulse

irritability

lethargy

fatigue

weight loss

trouble concentrating

If you’re overtraining, take a week off from exercising. Make sure you’re eating balanced meals and getting lots of sleep. Get a massage or take an ice bath to help flush out lactic acid. And most importantly, apologize to all the people you yelled at.

When you’re running a race you pretty much just follow the runners in front of you, right? Usually there are cones or people standing at corners to tell you which way to go, just in case.

Well, what do you do if the policeman on the motorcycle responsible for leading the way for EVERYONE makes a wrong turn? I’ve heard stories of this happening before. But it had never happened to me. Not until this past Saturday at the Cowtown 5k (apparently it also happened in the marathon).

Though I and my fellow pack of runners were all clearly very irritated by this mistake (causing us to run down an extra hill and back up it), we passed around an array of curse words for the first minute or so after getting back on course, I did learn an invaluable lesson from this mishap.

The unexpected happens all the time. Especially in running. During this particular moment my mind wandered back to a high school cross-country race where I tripped on a root and fell to the ground. I got up, let the stumble light a fire under me, I decided that no root was going to decide my fate, found my rhythm and was able to finish strong.

On Saturday my first reaction was “Damnit, we have to run up that hill just to get back onto the course?” And then I thought, “This sucks, I won’t even know my real time.” I was full of complaints. But half a mile later I decided to convert the negative energy into positive energy and started to find my stride. I ended up running a strong race and was still able to exceed my external goal!

So the lesson learned is let yourself be thrown off for a minute or two, then use it to your advantage and run like a maniac. Let a wrong turn, hailstorms, or smelly armpits get you even more excited about what you’re doing. Take a fall to the ground and scratched up knees and convince yourself you just inherited a superpower and you’re stronger than ever (though if you’re actually injured, ignore all this and find medical attention).

Run on,

Meet Suann Lundsberg of Dallas, Texas!
We’ve met up with Suann at a few of our expo appearances over the past few months, and she’s not only taking a liking to the product, but she has run in our gear as well! We’re very excited to have Suann on board as a part of our team. [...]

We’re very excited to have Suann on board as a part of our team. If you want to keep up with Suann’s busy pace (if you dare…) you can follow her on Twitter.

“I’m an endurance runner training for my first marathon, mom, wife and I work full time. I’m always on the go and don’t stop for anything. By the time I get home from my long runs on the weekends, I’ve already moved on to the next thing and never take the time to get my protein in. For me, finding the time to run isn’t the hard part, it’s finding the time to refuel properly after a workout. But I’ve found that Athletes Milk is convenient, natural, tastes great, is lactose free and makes great fruit smoothies!”

You sure meet a lot of cool people working for Athletes HoneyMilk. Earlier today I was in Indianapolis at the Colts training facility to donate 200 units of our product to a dietitian summit put on by @INDAIRY. As you’ve figured out by now, our drink is not only a great athletic recovery drink, but a perfect meal replacement as well.

So we not only had an opportunity to get it in the hands of a wonderful group of dietitians, but I also was able to touch base with our good friends in the Colts organization about Athletes HoneyMilk (yes, we’re in the fridge in their weight room, just a short stretch away from guys like this)…

Before leaving Indy, we made a quick stop at Wireless Toyz to check out some gadgetry. While there, a flower delivery man showed up with a dozen roses for Phyllis, the sales associate who was taking care of us. The mysterious card read “Thinking of you…” and nothing else. Phyllis was baffled about who may have sent these, and when a truck pulled up outside and her husband hopped out, I cringed a little bit - not sure if these flowers were going to have a happy ending or not.

Phyllis asked Bryant (her husband) when he came in if the roses were from him. Denial. Not him. Uh oh…

Thankfully, though, Bryant didn’t have the heart to prolong the act and he of course fessed up to sending them. Chivalry is not dead! It was too great of a moment not to document, so I asked if I could take a photo and share it on our blog.

Turns out Phyllis and Bryant use another not-nearly-as-amazing product after their workouts, so I offered them a couple samples of Athletes HoneyMilk for them to try. I’m VERY interested to hear what they have to say.

You never know, we may just have another Running Couple on board…

Good day, great people in Indy today, looking forward to more of the same in Dallas this weekend. Cowtown calls…

See you at the finish line -
